You probably don’t ovulate on day 14 of your menstrual cycle.
We need to STOP with the “one size fits all” model of the menstrual cycle.
As someone with a 31 day menstrual cycle, it pisses me off when people only relate our menstrual cycles to a 28 day cookie-cutter model.
We are all built differently. Our hormones ebb and flow during different time frames from person to person.
There are so many factors that affect our hormonal fluctions. Some really basic things are our food, water, levels of stress, as well as our genetic makeup.
Ovulation depends on the rise of two very important hormones: FSH and LH (I will be teaching you all about these in my EBook that will be released March 20).
Since everyone’s exact hormonal patterns are slightly different, how can we expect everyone’s ovulation to occur on the same day?
Just like we shouldn’t make assumptions about anyone, we definitely should not assume everyone ovulates on day 14.
If you do, thats fucking amazing! If you don’t, that’s also fucking amazing! We need to honor our bodies for exactly how they are and not beat ourselves up of not ovulating when we “should be”.
So I guess the next question would be, “Well, if I might not ovulate on day 14, when do I ovulate?”
Ovulation is actually a very short window of time and there are a few amazing tools to use as well as signs to look out for to locate your point of ovulation .
✨ Sticky Cervical Mucous: if you notice stretchy, sticky mucous when you wipe or in your underwear you could be ovulating!
✨ A rise in your BBT: if you track your cycle via taking your Basal Body Temperature (BBT) every morning, you will notice a spike in your temperature when you ovulate.
✨Increase in your sex drive: you tend to get supppperrrr horny when you near ovulation/ovulating.
✨Increase in overall energy: ovulation is our energetic peak!
These few things are good indicators that you are either near ovulating or full blown ovulating !
If you feel frustrated that you don’t ovulate on day 14, I see you. I have navigated so much frustration about my cycle not being “perfect” throughout my journey to reclaiming my cyclic nature. I promise that your body knows best, and you will ovulate when the time is exactly right for you.
